Well this is a day late but I figured better now than later... Yesterday I has my "first" flight briefing after my 9 month med-down period. It was pretty good for having some pretty dynamic flight conduct to go over. We ifinished up about 30 minutes early and sat around to wait for a jet when we heard a commotion about lost flashlights and how the first wave of flights would be canceled due to these lost items since
maintenance wasn't sure if they were lost IN a jet. This put a damper on the whole day. I eventually came home after studying with some buddies. Lala and I went to the gym after she got done with work and got our sweat on. After the gym we went to the grocery store and picked up supplies and snacks. :-) For dinner I grilled corn on the cob and Lala made her special sauce (see her earlier posts for more info on that). It all turned out great and we were able to finish it all up in time to eat while "The Office" was on.
Today our squadron wasn't flying because the instructors had a get-together (read that: slush party) at the Skipper's house last night. So all I had to do was run my PRT (Physical Readiness Test). I arrived on base about 20 minutes early for the 1400 wave and got ready. I was actually surprised that even after working out the night before, and also not really trying too hard, I was able to pass it really easily. We have a 2 minute timed section of situps, 2 minute timed section of pushups, then either a 1.5 mile run or a cardio workout on a gym bike or an eliptical machine where they convert the calories you burn to a timed run based on your weight. I opted to do the run along with another 9 people out of the total 40 who were there and finished first with a time of 10:13... Not too bad since I then turned around and ran back to help encourage the others to keep pushing themselves then also ran back to the gym to grab my stuff from my locker.
Now I'm back home and relaxing... waiting for Lala to get home from work.
1 more thing before I sign off for today: it's my little brother's birthday (who also happens to be graduating from college tomorrow too). Happy Birthday and congrats Justin! And congrats to another brother for graduating college last week: Way to go Chris!
