Today I awoke at 0515 to my iPod buzzin at me. Still way too early since I went to bed late after sleeping most of yesterday afternoon. But let's not get too far ahead of myself.
I got to video chat with Lala again last night. It was fun since I was then able to talk to her and see her using the computer and I was missing that. So Annie (our dog) is freaked out by the idea of me being on Lala's laptop screen and refuses to look at it. I don't know what to make of it or if that's normal.
Today we were issued our sidearms. We have to carry them almost everywhere and clear them when we enter most buildings. I can forsee this becoming a pain in the behind soon enough.
We are still awaiting the Main Body personnel, who should be arriving tonight. I will be flying tomorrow with the Marines so we can get a good handle on more of the proper procedures as well as figuring out the general missions we'll be flying around here. I'm pretty excited about that.
Anyways, that's all for today. Next time I want to try to include some pictures.
P.S. Remember, Lala: I love you!

Podunk is still a pretty safe place to be. No flying here this morning--we are socked in!
It is amazing how much life experiences change us. Now you will come home completely comfortable always carrying a sidearm... Learning new routines has always been awkward for me. Once I have it, I am alright but until then it is very uncomfortable. Some people thrive on that and it sounds like you do great. We love you very much and we are praying for you.
TGIF......as it
do I detect the fact that life in a war zone is somewhat different from stateside. In vietnam our normal schedule was 12 hours per day 7 days per week.
we had a drumb full of sand with a hole cut in the top to put the muzzle of the weapon in and pull the trigger to make sure it was clear. You are bringing back details to my memory long since forgotton.
What weapon did they give you, our flyboys had 38 revolvers, I would suspect that has changed.
I envy the commo you have with home but am happy for you that it is there.
Stay safe.
What kind of sidearm are y'all carrying? Baretta 9mm?
Hubby used to build and install those "cleaning stations" Sarge mentioned. He had one contract to do over 500 at a base in Asia...
